YOUR ROBOT. YOUR CONNECTION.

Give your TonyPi a browser.

Install the small bridge on your Raspberry Pi, then pair the browser with your robot. Commands and camera frames travel directly between your browser and the robot. The hosted website serves the interface and downloads.

This development release targets the TonyPi Pro with the factory HiWonder SDK at /home/pi/TonyPi/HiwonderSDK. Features depend on your robot’s installed files and accessories. Source inspection and automated tests do not establish that every movement or activity works on every robot.

01 / Prepare

Find your robot’s address.

Put your computer and robot on the same home network. Open a terminal on the Raspberry Pi and run hostname -I. Use the address for its active LAN connection. Close the original desktop servo editor before switching to the bridge.

Support the robot while changing control software. The bridge starts with movement disabled and sends no starting pose. Installation backs up the previous bridge and original service settings, then stops competing factory controllers so one service owns the servos.

02 / Install

Start the bridge on the Pi.

Download the release installer, then replace YOUR_PI_IP below with your robot’s address. Run these commands in the Pi terminal:

curl -fSL https://tonypitastic.netlify.app/downloads/install-tonypitastic.py -o /tmp/install-tonypitastic.py
python3 /tmp/install-tonypitastic.py --host YOUR_PI_IP --activate-hardware

Add --dry-run to validate the package and show the planned installation first. The installer pins this release’s SHA-256 and refuses a mismatched download. If you kept an older installer, download the current copy again.

SHA-256: 406c03a08e97ed45ebfa1266b4e240635c9f9fec2e0014e32d2097d8f6022300

03 / Pair

Authorize this browser.

Open http://YOUR_PI_IP:8765/. In Setup → Robot connections, generate a pairing code. Return to the hosted controller, enter that robot’s address and code, and choose Connect. Save a named profile to keep its address on this browser. The pairing code stays in memory and is never included in a profile or URL.

Generating or revoking a code stops and disables robot work. A new code invalidates the previous code. Revoke it from the robot’s local page when you want to remove hosted access. The robot stores only a private code hash.

04 / Use

Connect, read, then move.

Read the robot’s pose before enabling movement. Choose a gentle arm pose first and observe it. Camera viewing has its own explicit control; selecting a workspace or activity starts nothing. STOP cancels work and disables further movement while retaining holding torque. Manual sequences and autonomous activities stop after twelve seconds without browser heartbeats.

Chrome and Edge 142+ can connect from the HTTPS site to a LAN robot after you grant local-network permission. Other browsers may block this connection; Open robot’s local page gives you the controller directly on the robot. You do not need VNC after installation, and you do not need router port forwarding.
